Fall Finds

Hi All! Happy Thursday, does anyone have fun weekend plans? We have a busy weekend in store. Friday night we are taking a tour of our friends house that they recently renovated  and have a fun dinner planned for afterwards. On Saturday we are heading to a dinner party - all good stuff to kick off Fall.
Speaking of Fall, in a matter of what seemed like seconds our summer disappeared and Fall is upon us! This season my plan is to buy a few key pieces that I can mix and match with everything already in my closet. On my list of new items for Fall include:

1. Chambray button down
2. Tan leather booties
3. Few blouses
4. Statement necklaces
5. Black leather boots

I already found a great Chambray shirt at Old Navy and the price could not be beat, $12.95 after a 20% discount. I also snagged a pair of leather booties from Nordstrom, they haven't arrived yet but I'm hoping they will fit the bill. Today, I virtually shopped my closet and put together a casual outfit for Fall including all items I already own. The look also features the booties I just bought from Nordstrom. All of the items below are affordable mixed with jewelery and other key pieces that I've collected over the years and love.
  Fall Look
  H&M Jacket $49 / H&M Sweater $29 / H&M Scarf $17 / Forever 21 Earrings $3
Michael Kors Watch $250 / Nordstrom Booties $99 / Nordstrom Rack Joe's Jeans $70
Old Navy Hobo Bag $29 / David Yurman Bracelets $775

Design & Decor: The Master Bedroom

Hi everyone - happy Wednesday! Since Dan and I got married in July I've been focusing on really decorating our home. Back in March we bought an old home with tons of character that had been completely gutted by the previous owner, so we're working with an old yet new house which is really the best of both worlds.
In terms of what's on the docket, my to-do list is miles long (much to my husbands dismay!) but first things first we're planning to paint the interior. Right now the inside of our home is a pretty standard beige with yellow undertones which is not my favorite. I've been playing around with a ton of different "greiges" but haven't found one that I love just yet, so the hunt continues.

I've also been making plans for our master bedroom, and wanted to share a mood board that I threw together last week. I've been using this master bedroom as inspiration - I love how comfortable yet chic the room is.
I'm not sure that this is 100% the direction I want to go, but I like where things are heading. We currently own the linen bed, night stands, white bedding, and club chair shown in the photo below so to achieve the look we will just need to paint and 'fluff' - aka decorate.  I'm doing this all on a big time budget, but I've always decorated that way, and I actually think the thrill of the hunt makes it more fun than buying the entire Restoration Hardware catalog ... although maybe that wouldn't be so bad ;)

Pier 1 - Nightstands $129 / Home Goods - Table lamps $40 each
Target - Floor Lamp $50 / Target - Mirror $39 / Target - Rug $159

We're Married! And Back to Blogging

Hi Everyone! Well it's been months since I last blogged but I am so excited to get back to this space. Since I last wrote, Dan and I got married and it was easily the best day of our lives. All of the planning certainly paid off and the day was just amazing! Today I wanted to share some photos from 7/26, and tomorrow I'll be back with all sorts of fun things that I've been thinking about lately. Without further adieu ...

Invitations are Out!

After months of work, our wedding invitations are finally in the mail and they are beautiful! Our close friend Caroline designed the monogram plus the invitation suite and they are amazing. I agonized about the invites because I really wanted them to feel custom and I wanted them to convey the feeling of our day.
We selected thick 100% cotton paper, had everything embossed, and the inner/outer envelopes were addressed by a local calligrapher. I also turned into a crazy bride and bought custom stamps with our monogram to tie everything together. Kinda nutso, but I was really happy with the final product! Without further adieu here they are, less than 2 months to go!

Friday Inspiration

Hello! Is anyone out there? I feel so bad that I have neglected this little blog for so long. We are less than two months away from our big day and wedding planning plus the new house have taken center stage. I will be back next week with recaps on many wedding festivities including my bachelorette bash and my first shower!
I saw this quote on another blog and had to share, I just love it. One of my personal mantras has always been that when you have a dream or a desire, it's up to you to make it happen! Happy weekend Friends :)

Our Easter

Better late than never ... we had a wonderful Easter! The bunny found our new house and left a trail of jelly beans down the stairs and straight to Dan's basket :) The jelly bean trail is something my Mom always did for us as kids, it's special to be carrying on these traditions! Here are a few pics from our day.

After opening baskets we went to an early mass which was just incredible, I can't say enough amazing things about our church! Afterwards Dan and I hosted my family for brunch and then headed to his Grandma's for a late lunch. I borrowed my Mom's pink Spode plates for my Easter table - love them!

That night my parents hosted us and their close friends for an amazing Easter dinner. In our family, holidays are always celebrated with cocktails followed by long dinners served in courses - the first course always being some kind of pasta (we're Italian) and the second being the meat course. This year for Easter my Dad made an amazing lamb roast which everyone raved about! I am not a lamb fan so I didn't have any but it was a hit. All in all, it was a great day.

We are 3 months out from the wedding which is just crazy so we are going to spend our weekend knocking things off the list of to-do's. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Life Lately & Easter

Hi Everyone! I have been so MIA from this space and I hate it! Since we moved into our new house life has just been a whirlwind of getting settled, getting art hung, TV's mounted - all kinds of fun things :) There has also been lots of wedding planning peppered in as well. We finalized the monogram for our invitations and I am obsessed - it is amazing. Our friend Caroline who is designing our invites drew the monogram by hand, so special. I will share once the invitations are in the mail mid-May.
A few weeks ago Dan and I celebrated our two year anniversary with a great dinner at our favorite place, L'Albatros. Over dinner we couldn't help but be amazed at how many wonderful things have happened in the last two years. We met, started dating, got engaged, sold and bought a house, and made a lot of great memories in between. Life is not perfect, and it never will be, but life is good and we both feel so unbelievably blessed to have found each other!

For our anniversary my Mom dropped off the most beautiful tulips which led as all to believe that spring had sprung ...

... until a week later when Cleveland got hit with a few inches of snow. Growing up in Cleveland we have all experienced a few Easter snow storms so we weren't too surprised but I think everyone in the Midwest is ready for some warmer weather! I snapped an iPhone pic of our new house on the way to work, now we know what our little house will look like during the holidays ;)
Finally, wedding gifts have started to arrive which makes me giddy. Dan's uncle bought us our Kitchen Aid, I am so excited to start using it to bake some delicious goodies! Although I literally never bake ... might have to do some pinning to find some recipes :)
Speaking of cooking, we are hosting Easter brunch this year at our house so I am on the hunt for a great Easter menu. I love Easter and I'm so excited to get dressed up, head to church, have mimosas, eat delicious food, and celebrate with our families. Let's just hope I don't butcher brunch ;) I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! xoxo
